What to wear? No idea. When I visited Egypt two years ago I was determined not to wear shorts and tee-shirts and look like a tourist. Conveniently, this allowed me to wear what I always wear, even when I got to ride a camel:
The added bonus was that I wore the same jacket and slacks to Colgate graduation about a week after this picture was taken. There's nothing that says "graduation" like the faint whiff of camel.
I should say that my effort to blend in was, of course, a complete failure, but at least I felt like I was treating the place and people with respect.
On this trip, I am planning much the same strategy. Probably the same jacket actually. That said, Padma and Eliza are planning to take us all clothes-shopping on arrival, so who knows how we will end up.
Advice on appropriate garb?
You should be fine with your normal clothes, but I would recommend comfortable shoes. The streets aren't always paved very well, and temples often have lots of stairs. Plus, traffic lights/laws are questionable, so you'll need to be able to run when necessary.

Thanks, Stephanie. I only wear comfortable shoes! In Egypt I wore good sandals. I am not sure if those will hold up for this trip.
